A little about me...
My name is Ida Matuskova. I was born in former Czechoslovakia and moved to United States about 12 years ago to work as an au pair for a family in Washington, DC. I lived with the family for a year and have also done much babysitting in the years since, as well as working as a nanny for a family with three children (2-year-old and 4-month-old twins when I started). I was with that family for almost three years. I have several references (available upon request). I decided to start my own daycare after having my daughter Sofia Marie in November of '08 – having always been the babysitter and nanny it was the perfect transition into opening my own daycare. I have always worked with children and had been considering it for some time, but definitely decided to go for it after having Sofia in a family daycare for a couple of days a week. I was lucky to find a provider that was just perfect for us, understanding, loving, responsible and able to give my daughter all the attention she needed. I wanted to create that kind of environment for other children. I love everything about watching children learn and helping their curious minds unfold. After living on Nantucket for many years my family and I moved to Franklin last year, into a house that has a beautiful fenced in backyard and a large family room in the basement, perfect for daycare. We now have two girls, Sofia and Maddie.
I have read much about different childcare methods and approaches. I have become familiar with the Reggio-Emilia approach while working in an Italian store that got me interested in anything and everything Italian. I came across their theory and found it very intriguing and close to my own ideas and values. I would love to apply its basics to all children in my care. My older daughter thrives on it. She is turning out to be a delightful, curious child that loves company of other children, is exceptionally outspoken, already understands three different languages and starts to speak all of them. I would be more than happy to introduce your children to Spanish and Slovak, if you wish. I am fully licensed and insured.
